An unexpected call from an old friend today caught me unawares. He is my boss at a small startup company 10 years back. I had moved on from that company long back and have not been able to keep in touch with him and have even forgotten him. A sudden call was a surprise. A lot of catch up talk – he has started a company on his own few years back and has its head quarters in Mumbai. He has branches currently in Delhi and is soon planning to start one in Chennai. He also has plans to start office in Dubai and US. Oh… that’s a great and he has gone a long way.
There are some people who get into action. I for one have been thinking of starting something on my own for a long time. Have spoken about it to a lot of my friends, have dreamt about it and not a day passes without me thinking of myself as being the boss of my own venture, however small it may be. But getting into the routine of life, it’s always been the same story – work till late into the night, cursing my employer for never providing me with enough free time to concentrate on my other passions with the dream of starting up and owning my own venture always running in the back of my mind.
How is it that some people strike it right?
Is it that they are hard working?
Or is it that they are intelligent
Or is it that they are better planners
Or is it that they are able to better execute their plan
Or is it that they manage their time better
Or is it that they are more courageous
Or is it that they are sheer lucky
Whatever it is, I really feel proud of these people who can do their dream rather than dream their dream.
